  6. The third party compatibility unit at Quarterdeck reports that
  7. DR DOS 6 and QEMM386 v6 are compatible. OPTIMIZE does not
  8. recognize all of the CONFIG.SYS enhancements offered by DR DOS
  9. 6, such as SWITCH, but will work properly otherwise
  10.  
  11. We have the most recent version of QEMM (v.6.01) , and it seems
  12. to be working very well on the new 386/33mhz. AMD 386/40mhz.
  13. Processor machines with AMI BIOS we have.

  15. There's been a lot of talk about their new and major feature
  16. STEALTH. The STEALTH technology actually relocates/re-maps ROM's
  17. off into extended memory, thus freeing up more contiguous upper
  18. memory for use by QEMM (as much as a 128k block on the AMD
  19. 386/33mhz. machine.) STEALTH has two specific modes of operation
  20. specified by using ST:F or ST:M on the QEMM device driver line. 
  21. It is important to understand that an advanced feature like this
  22. is difficult to troubleshoot.  The QEMM documentation (written,
  23. and on-line via the OPTIMIZE program) gives some very helpful
  24. "first-step" debugging hints.

  26. If you are using QEMM with DR DOS 6.0 and are seeing strange
  27. behavior, try removing the ST option on the QEMM device driver
  28. line altogether.

  30. STEALTH confuses many disk caches which use expanded memory
  31. (EMS) because STEALTH technology uses the LIM page frame in an
  32. advanced, non-standard way. To prevent data corruption advanced
  33. hard disk reads and writes (/H-) are automatically disabled by
  34. SuperPCK when STEALTH is used. Quarterdeck, Multisoft and
  35. Digital Research are working together on this problem.
